Self-Guided Learning - taking control of your own learning - is a lifelong process which requires independence, direction, and self-reflection. As an act of independent learning and self-directed progress, the process may sometimes be challenging or confronting, but it is often rewarding. At its best, this framework can help you identify your goals and work towards them, though hurdles can commonly present themselves when you are uncertain of your next steps.
This is the first of three modules which give you the tools necessary to ask yourself 'what do I want to learn?' and action the answer. The first will introduce you to the benefit and utility of self-guided learning. The second teaches you how to critically self-reflect. The third assists you in the creation of a Learning Plan - a tool to help you identify and focus your self-guided learning goals. What is Self-Guided Learning? How do I practice Critical Self-Reflection? How do I create a Learning Plan? "What Do I Want To Learn?"

Rationalizer Result Image Take a look at the percentage you scored in this category. Anything greater than 0% reveals that—in some cases—rationalizations and self-interest may drive your behavior. To reduce the likelihood that you will justify your actions, consider including the following questions in your decision-making process: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all? Is it free from harm? Am I proud to do it? Thinking about these questions will help you quickly cut to the heart of both small and large matters. *Please note: This is a personal assessment; no one else will see it. It is intended only as a snapshot - NOT a detailed assessment of your character - and designed merely to get you thinking about a few choices you might make in certain everyday situations. Ethical decision making is a key component of maintaining a respectful workplace. For more information on how to create a culture of respect at work, explore our Atana training courses.

If it is a high percentage, and you have been honest with yourself, then it is likely you practice ethical behaviors most of the time. You tend to think about the actual choices you make and practice integrity by choosing to be honest and fair. If you scored less than 100%, you have the opportunity to think more about the choices you make and practice integrity more often when faced with ethical dilemmas. To be a more consistent ethical decision maker, ask yourself these questions when considering your options: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all? Is it free from harm? Am I proud to do it? Thinking about these questions will help you quickly cut to the heart of both small and large matters. *Please note: This is a personal assessment; no one else will see it.
